February 2021 – Picacho Peak
On Saturday Jan. 30th we left Wilcox and headed west. Our destination was Picacho Peak/Tucson KOA Campground. Because most RV parks and campgrounds are extremely busy in February in Arizona we made reservations at this park for one month. It was in a convenient location close to the interstate and about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. They also had WIFI, a pool and playground. First priority was Henry and school but we made time to visit nearby attractions.
Saguaro National Parks both East and West – Tucson
Casa Grande National Monument – Coolidge
Montezuma's Castle and Well
Drove to top of Mount Lemmon – Tucson
Arizona Railroad Museum – Chandler
Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch – Picacho
One day we visited Pat and Donna Cemlya in Apache Junction. We also had a visit from Jim and Bonnie Menne who also winter in Apache Junction. We had the best weather so far on the trip as a lot of days it was in the 70's but had a few cold and windy days as well.
