March
2021 – Quartzsite, Las Vegas and Laughlin
The
first week in March we spent boondocking on BLM land north of
Quatzsite. We rendezvoused with our friends Tim and Kathy Steward in
Picacho and they followed us to Quartzsite. The RV and rock shows
were all done but there were still some vendors in Quartzsite so we
visited the market a few times. Kathy's birthday was on the 22 so we
celebrated both of our birthdays by going out for pizza at Silly Al's
in Quartzsite. We found out a few of our Quartzsite/Escapee friends
were boondocking just over the mountain closer to Boise. One day we
drove there and spent a few hours visiting. We were especially happy
to hook up with Jill Iteen. Jill and Ed are our Escapee adoptive
parents. Ed passed away last year but Jill has continued her
traveling.
We found
out from Jill they were giving Covid Vaccinations in Quartzsite.
Dennis went in and got his and inquired if I would be able to get one
since I did not meet the state age requirement. They were giving them
to anyone that came in so I got one too! We will get our booster when
we get back to Wisconsin.
We also
received a visit from Steve and Li Bubb. They live in Wisconsin and
winter in Yuma at Fortuna De Oro. It was extremely windy that day. We
tried to visit outside in the screen tent but the wind was so strong
the tent started collapsing. We ended up taking it down and continued
our visit in the camper.
Tim and
Kathy left Quartzsite on Friday and were heading to Luke Air Force
Base RV Park near Phoenix. We left on Saturday and traveled up to Las
Vegas. We spent two weeks at Arizona Charlie's Casino and RV Park.
The weather was pretty nice and it was a great location to see some
of the Las Vegas attractions. Unfortunately many of the free
attractions in Vegas were closed because of Covid but despite this
there was still lots to see and do.

most days at the campground. We visited Grapevine Canyon to see the
Petroglyphs as well as Oatman to see the burros and the gunfight.
