More jewelry making and Intaglios

01-29-2018 thru 02-04-2018

Monday – Today we went to the Rock Club so I could take my ring making class. I could not complete it in one session so I signed up for another session Tuesday afternoon. In the afternoon Dennis and I took a class to make a bracelet out of copper pipe. They turned out awesome!

Tuesday – Finished my ring this afternoon. It turned out pretty nice. While I was doing that Dennis took a drive down to Palm Canyon to check out the boondocking spots. Might be ok but the road in is kinda bumpy. We still havn't decided where we are going next. Donna and John invited us to a game night on the 3rd. If we go we would stay overnight at their house. We are trying to figure out where the most secure location would be to leave the camper overnight. In the evening we had a fire and visited with Mike and Terri. They are such a wonderful couple and we really enjoy hanging out with them. They will be leaving us tomorrow and heading north. :-(

Friday – We decided to do a little more sight seeing and check out the Blythe Intaglios north of Blythe. Intaglios are large figures made by scraping away rocks in the desert pavement. They are believed to be prehistoric but their age and identity of their creators is uncertain. The two we saw were both human figures but they can be almost anything including animals and geometric shapes. They were fairly large at 125 to 170 feet from head to toe. They are a little hard to see standing on the ground but still very neat. From there we continued north on highway 95 then east to cross the river then back to the camper. Our drive took us along the Colorado River Valley where lots of crops are grown. Several fields where flooded and we spied some wading birds taking advantage to forage.

Saturday – Today headed to Surprise to attend Donna and Johns party. After some debate we decided to leave the camper parked at our site on Plomosa Road. Instead of taking I-10 we took the scenic route east on Plomosa Road then south east on Hwy 72 then picked up Hwy 60 to Wickenburg. A very nice drive however Hwy 72 was quit bumpy. We had a very nice time at the party visiting with their friends and relatives, playing games and eating wonderful food.

Sunday – Returned to our camper in mid day. Found it just as we left it so no issues. We watched the Super Bowl then sat outside around a fire for an hour. Tomorrow we are moving a little further south near Palm Canyon. Hopefully we can find a nice spot to park.

Quartzsite Plomosa Road Short Term Visitor Area – (33.7674661,-114.1694770) We parked at the extreme eastern edge of the visitor area. The Escapees Chapter 21 folks were a short walk away. This is free dry camping area with a 14 day limit.

Another beautiful sunset
