Hwy 49 to Jackson

Saturday
The day we left Wisconsin our GPS started going on the fritz. We purchased a Garmin Dezl 770 LMT Truck Navigator. It could be used right out of the box but we knew it needed to be updated. So Dennis spent the good part of 4 hours in the Casino using their WIFI updating the database.
It was Spa day for Buddy. I gave him a haircut, cleaned his ears, cut his nail and gave him a bath. Now he is all ready for the warmer weather. Then Buddy and I took a walk while Dennis was still in the Casino.
Late in the afternoon we took a drive to the towns of Tunica and Hernando. Both quaint little southern towns. Hernando has more shops and restaurants but being it was late in the day and off season not much was open. One restaurant looked rather busy but we did not stop. We returned to the camper and had a supper of leftovers and salad.
Tomorrow we leave and head further south. Our destination is the Mississippi Petrified Forest Campground in Flora. About a 3.5 hour drive.

Sunday
After breakfast we went to the pool then returned to the camper and packed up. We left around 10:00 and headed south on Hwy 61 then picked up Hwy 49W toward Jackson. The trip was uneventful. Always good! We arrived at the campground around 1:45. We had called ahead and found out they only had one site left. Once we arrived we checked into the office and drove to the site which we found was too small for our rig. We located a state park just outside of Jackson about 26 miles away. They said they had sites available so we headed there.

Where we're parked: Lefleur's Bluff State Park – Jackson MS
Site 9 for one night, site 6 for 3 nights - $19.50/night – Both sites back up to the water. They have a concrete pad, water and 30 and 50 amp electric service. A pass code is required to enter the park after hours. They warned us not to let our dog go swimming in the river or it could be eaten by alligators! I don't think we are going to go swimming either!
