On Our Way

We left the house this morning around 8:30 after spending about an hour shutting the house down. The plan was to make it south of St. Louis by the end of the day. However we saw an alternate route that avoided St. Louis. From Rockford we took I39 south to Normal Bloomington then picked up I74 to I57. We are now at Ferne Clyffe State Park. We traveled 474 miles today which is way too many. But we are now in warmer temperatures as it is 9:00 and still 45 degrees. Tomorrow the high temperature is supposed to be around 60 degrees so we stay another night and check out this area. We will continue south on Thursday as the temps here are supposed to drop with highs only in the 30's.

Campground: Ferne Clyffe State Park- Goreville IL
Deer Ridge Campground - Site 41 - $18 - Sites are level and have nice gravel pads but are close together. Lots of trees so there would be plenty of shade in the summer. All sites have electric, mostly 30 amp with a few 50 amp. There are a few water spigots scattered around but not for permanent hookup. We hooked our hose to one as we were the only ones in the campground. The water pressure is very high so have a pressure reducer if you are going to connect directly to your unit. Lots of hiking paths from as short as .25 mile up to 8 miles long. We hope to check a few of them out tomorrow.
