Quartzsite - Finally warmer weather

1-22-2019-1-28-2019

Tuesday thru Monday – The temperature is inching higher. Most days the highs have been in the low 70's and lows in the low 50's. We are not using as much propane which is nice.

Most days we have spent hanging out at the camper or going into Quartzsite to the RV show or poke around in the shops and markets. On Tuesday we went with Mike and Terry to LaMesa RV to a Heartland Owners meet and greet. They served a free meal of spaghetti, garlic bread and dessert.

Friday was a birthday party for Jack, one of the group we hang out with from Benson. Jack and Rita live in Alaska and have spent many winters in Arizona. They have a lot in the Benson SKP park but are giving it up as they do not plan on coming for the winters anymore. We had a great send off for them with a pot luck breakfast in the morning, Polar Bear drinks in the afternoon and a fish fry for dinner. Boy was I stuffed!

Mike and Terry pulled out on Saturday to go to Yuma. They reserved a spot in an RV park but when they got there all the spots were taken. They ended up boondocking at the Cocopah Casino south of Yuma.

Sunday night we went with a group of people to Silly Al's Pizza in Quartzsite. It was packed but we did not have to wait too long and the pizza was very good.

We have been working on projects at the Gem and Mineral Club. Dennis is cutting and polishing stones. I took a class on pine needle basket making. I have made some small baskets but this is different as it uses a stone for the base and brightly colored thread for wrapping the needles. It is turning out very nice but is very time consuming. Maybe I will have it completed by the time I get back to Wisconsin!

On Monday we moved a short distance to be closer to the Benson group. So much easier to visit and to join them around the fire at night.

Where we are parked: Quartzsite Plomosa Road Short Term Visitor Area – (33.7674661,-114.1694770) We parked at the extreme eastern edge of the visitor area. The Escapees Chapter 6 and 21 folks are a short walk away. This is free dry camping area with a 14 day limit.
