Birthday and Visit with Skip and Carol

Tuesday - temps: High 84º, Low 65º
Happy birthday to me! Today was my 56th birthday and also my last day as a Kohler Co. employee. Woo Hoo! We both exercised in the morning then did some shopping. In the afternoon we went to the pool. There was a pot luck scheduled in the clubhouse for dinner. We made a apple blueberry cobbler in the dutch oven to share. As is usually the case it was a hit and there were no leftovers.

Not a bad way to spend a February birthday!

Wednesday - temps: High 86º, Low 67º
Today we planned a trip to see our friends Carol and Skip who are parked at a RV Resort in Arcadia Florida. We all plan to go to the Heartland Rally in Goshen Indiana in June. Registration opened at noon on March 1 (today) and we were hoping we could all get spaces near each other. This was part of the reason to visit them today.
It was a 2.5 hours drive to their park which was mainly down I-75. There were spots where traffic was heavy and we were stopped but all in all we made in good time and arrived around noon eastern time. An hour before the registration opened (noon central time.) We contacted Lee and Steve by phone and we all tried to get the same area. We were able to get a site in the Maple street area along with Lee and Steve. However Skip and Carol have a longer rig and ended up in the in field of the track.
We spent the rest of the day visiting with Skip and Carol. The park they are at is really nice and their site overlooks a man made pond. Carol and I took a tour of the park on their bikes. Then we went out for supper at the Smoke N Pit BBQ. It was very good and inexpensive. Our meal and drinks were under $20! It was close to 8:00 when we left. However traffic was much lighter and we made it home by 10:30.

I scheduled a hair cut for 9:30 this morning since it has been 6 weeks since I had my last one. After my haircut we went to see if we could purchase some honey from a place we drove by on Sunday when we went golfing. We drove in and had to honk the horn and a young man came out with 3 types of honey. We purchase the Orange Blossom. Twenty two ounces for $12. Then we took a drive along some of the roads closer to the coast.

In the afternoon we decided to participate in the horse races at the park clubhouse. No real horses of course but consists of a board with 6 horse figures that are moved forward one space at a time by a roll of the dice. Participants purchase 4 playing cards for a quarter each (Ace through 6). If you hold the card number of the horse that won you win $1.25. We won a few races and it was lots of fun.
