Today
we went to Camping World in Port Richie to purchase a Oxygenics
shower head. The shower in our rig has wimpy pressure. We have heard
other Rvers who have purchased one for their rig and they have liked
them. They work by adding oxygen to the water stream. We installed it
and tried it out. The stream from the shower seemed to be a little
better than the old one. Not significant but I think we will keep it.
While
we were at Camping World we toured rigs for sale. Thor has come out
with a small Class A motor home, the Axis, that I had seen at some of the park
we camped at. They range from 25 to 27 feet long with one or two
small slides. We were able to see a couple of the floor plans. They
seemed to be well thought out and efficient. We are not in the market
for one at the moment but something to keep in mind.
After
we left Camping World we sought out RV parks in the area in case we
would come back to here in the future. We found a couple that looked
nice and have more space between rigs than Barrington Hills. I am
going to list our preferences here so we can look them up in the
future.
- Topics RV Resort – Nice amenities including heated pool, lots of room between sites ~$600/month – Located down the road from Gary and Cindy.
- Three Lakes RV Resort - Gated, lots of room between units but more expensive - ~$900/month
- Seven Springs Travel Park – Slightly less space between units than 1 & 2 but very nice ample room to park the truck- ~$525/month includes 200 KWH electricity per month.
- Orchid Lake RV Resort – Sites are closer together than the 3 above but better than Barrington. Natural lake with fishing piers – Call for price
Isn't this redundant as swimming could potentially be feeding the alligators?! |
This
was one of those days that make keeps us interested in traveling and
exploring new places as we came across two unexpected experiences.
Dennis
suggested we go somewhere for a bike ride. The Suncoast Bike Trail is
nearby. This is a trail that runs adjacent to the Suncoast Tollway.
We drove to Crews Lake Wilderness County Park that is a trail head
where we could park. We unloaded the bikes and rode ½ mile to the
Suncoast Trail. We headed north and road about 5 miles. I was
getting tried of bucking a head wind so we turned back. It was an ok
ride but I don't know if I would go there again.
When
we returned to the park I noticed several campers parked
down a road. I knew they only had tent camping facilities so we went
over to check it out. This park has a 7 ½ inch gauge riding
railroad run by the Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad (CP&GR) organization
and they use the park as their headquarters. On the second Saturday
of the month the club runs the train and give rides to the public.
They also offer rides for birthday parties by reservation.
Today was the CP&GR's winter meet.
The members can bring their own engines and cars to run on this 3.5
mile track. When we were there they ran a double header steam train
which was pretty cool! All the engines and cars were very detailed
looked like miniature versions of the real thing.

When we left the park Dennis suggested
we go to winery. A Google search found two nearby. Masaryk Winery and
Strong Tower Vineyard and Winery. We headed to Masaryk Winery since it was
the closest. Has we followed the GPS it was taking us down some roads
that were not much more than a lane so I was getting skeptical that
we would find anything. However we found the winery and also a U-pick
farm! We tasted their wine but it was not to our liking. So we
checked out the u-pick part of the farm. It is strawberry season here
so we decided to pick some to eat with our ice cream tonight. Yum! In
addition to strawberries they will have u-pick blueberries and
blackberries later in the year as well as vegetables as all kinds.
We also stopped at Strong Tower Vineyard and Winery. We tasted wine here as well and purchased a watermelon wine and a blueberry port. That evening we enjoyed the port with our pasta meal.
