Bullhead City - Oatman and Casinos

03-05-2018 thru 03-11-2018

Monday we left Goodyear and headed to Bullhead City. We took the 303 to hwy 60 then got on 93 north. Part of 93 north is designated as the Joshua Tree Parkway. Very nice drive varied from 2 to 4 lanes. At the end of hwy 93 we got on I-40 west to Kingman then hwy 68 to Bullhead City. There is a huge drop in elevation going into Bullhead City with 11 miles of grades of 6%. The engine brake on the truck worked well. Dennis just tapped the brake once or twice and the truck did all the work. Sweet!

We were headed to Silver View RV Resort to utilize a one week special of $119. They did not have a spot for us until Thursday so we stayed in the dry camping area for a few days.

Tuesday we took a drive to Oatman to check out this unique town. It is an old mining town that is famous for the wild burros wandering the streets. There are lots of shops and a couple of restaurants. We made it there in time for the noon gunfight.

Wednesday we checked out another RV resort just down the road. They had a one week special for $99 plus electricity. It was a much nicer park than Silver View so for about the same price we decided to move to VistaDel Sol RV Resort.

On Thursday we played Pickle Ball in the morning with some of the park guests. The rest of the day we spent by the pool enjoying the sun. That evening we went to Harrahs Casino to see the show Abbacadabra, an ABBA tribute band. It was very well done and lots of fun.

Friday we spent at the park and the pool. In the evening we went to Laughlin across the river and strolled on the River Walk.

Nice car at the Riverside Casino Car Museum

Saturday we did a circle tour. Drove down to Needles then west on I-40 then north on Hwy 95, old route 66, to Hwy 163, then back to Bullhead City. Not much to see on this drive although the scenery on hwy 163 going into the river valley is very pretty.

Today's activities included hiking the 1.3 mile Fisherman Trail at KatherineLanding, enjoying a soak in the hot tub then a buffet dinner at the Riverside Casino.
