Goodyear - Spring Training and more visits with friends

02-26-2018 thru 03-04-2018

Monday we visited Jim and Bonnie at their RV Park in Apache Junction. We visited with them most of the afternoon and into the evening. We found out LaMesa RV was providing a free lunch so we headed over there and had burgers and chips then checked out some of the fifth wheels they had on the lot. Did not find anything that we would want to exchange for ours.

Tuesday we played pickle ball in the morning. In the afternoon we went swimming then headed over to Luke Air Force Base to watch the jets takeoff and land. Such an awesome sight and sound. While there a weather front came through and brought a dust storm and rain. The dust storm did not last long however it rained most of the evening.

Happy Birthday to me!! Wednesday dawned clear and cold. Stayed pretty cool most of the day. I requested we go to IHOP for breakfast. It was not the best IHOP experience but the food was good. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home to pick up a few things. They had baby backed ribs on sale so guess what we had for supper that night! I also made a Key Lime pie. Yum!

Thursday evening John and Donna picked us up at the park. We met Jim and Bonnie at the Bario Cafe in Phoenix for dinner. When we finished eating we headed for the Taco Guild Gastropub to have a few drinks but it was very busy. We settled for a nearby coffee shop and had coffee and lattes and chatted for another hour or so. So glad we could all get together!

On Friday we decided to take in a Brewers Game at Maryvale Ball Park, the Brewers spring training facility in Pheonix. It was a beautiful day with light winds and high of 74 degrees. We are not baseball fans but it was fun to see a game. Going to a spring training game is different the stadium is a lot smaller so we feel closer to the action. And the players are more accessible and stop to sign autographs. Pretty neat. Plus it was bobble head day....anyone want of brewers bobble head?

Saturday we went to the Mesa Market Swap Meet. It was similar to the Arizona Market we went to in Yuma with a lot of the same stuff. As we were leaving I saw a text from Jim and Bonnie wandering if we could get together again before we leave. As we were only a few miles from them in Apache Junction we headed over there. We visited with them the rest of the afternoon and went out to dinner at Los Gringos Loco. This was a very nice Mexican restaurant and was one of my favorites so far on this trip.

Sunday we stayed at the park. We are moving tomorrow to Bullhead City so we did some chores to prepare such as wash and getting a few groceries.

Where we are parked:  Cotton Lane RV Resort – Goodyear Arizona – Site 42. We paid the Good Sam weekly rate $206.13 which included water, sewer and electric. This is a resort park with many amenities including an indoor pool and hot tub, boccie ball, shuffle board, pickle ball courts and 4 golf holes. There is laundry and exercise rooms. Our site was in an area for short term guests and was very small. (Site 42 is a little larger) The sites for the monthly guests were much more generous in size. There are also permanent single and double wide manufactured homes in this park.
