Monday October 2, 2017 – Cedar Falls Iowa and Cousins
We
left Chippewa Falls around 10:45 to begin the 174 mile trip to Cedar
Falls. We took several state roads to get there. From Eau Claire we
took 85 to 25. From Wabasha we took highway 61. There was a detour on
42 so we followed the detour on 14 then over to 42 to Highway 90 near
Rochester MN. From there we took 63 south to Cedar Falls.
The
plan was to visit my three cousins in Cedar Falls. Unfortunately Mark
and Mary were busy. Mark had a town council meeting he had to attend.
Mary works for the University of Northern Iowa Catering department
and had homecoming events she needed to deal with. We did meet up
with Sally at her apartment and took her to Pizza Ranch for supper.
It had been years since I had seen her and we had a very nice visit.

Temps:
Leaving Chippewa Falls this morning it was in the upper 50's. As we
traveled south we ran into a few showers but nothing significant. We
arrived in Cedar Falls around 4:00. Temperature was unseasonably warm
at 85 degrees. Tonights temps are supposed to be in the mid 60's.
Monday is forcast to be warm again with chance of showers later in
the day.
Where
we are parked: George Wyth State Park, Cedar Falls, Iowa – Site
65 with electric. There are 69 total sites 47 which have electric.
This park drops it fees after October 1. We paid $11 for an electric
site. There are shower facilities, rest rooms and a dump station. The
park also has boat landings, hiking and paved multi-use trails.
The windy conditions resulted in Cheryl and Dennis staying another day at George Wyth. It allowed me time to catch up with them and visit their beautiful 5th wheel. It was great to see them again. they are now on their way to Omaha to visit with Cathy and Art. Safe Travels!!
